PCMCIA - Adapter + Interface Cards
PCMCIA<=>USB-Adapterbox supports Memory Cards

USB adapters for CF memory cards are widely available, but there are very few models around that support full size PCMCIA. The U111-M is perfect for applications where PCMCIA cards are still being used, and the host PC no longer has PCMCIA connectivity. The U111-M supports ATA memory, SRAM memory, and Linear Flash cards which support the Common Flash Memory Interface (CFI). No driver installation is normally required. Please note the U111-M supports only the listed memory cards. It don't supports any other PCMCIA cards !
Suitable for:
- Laptops without PCMCIA slots
- Desktops
- Point of Sale machines
- Mobile computers, e.g. in car systems.
Technical Features:
- 16-Bit PCMCIA Cards supported
- USB Interface (USB1.1 and USB2.0 compatible)
- Supports TypeI and II card sizes. Slot has ejector lever
- so works with Compact Flash cards and SD cards using suitable adapters, available separately
- Uses a low power high performance micro controller to convert the USB protocol to PCMCIA card read/write access.
- Card is powered from the USB slot (second USB power connection available for low power hosts).
- 16-bit memory cards supported : SRAM, ATA and Linear Flash cards supporting Common Flash Memory Interface (CFI).

P111 - 1 x PCMCIA / CardBus
P111 - 1 x PCMCIA / CardBus - rear sideThe P111 is perfect for use with Wireless LAN cards like WiFi / 802.11b or any of the newly emerging 802.11a or 802.11g standards. It also suits Bluetooth cards or other functions where the ability to occasionally remove the card is important, but where during normal use the rear facing aspect of the slot suits its operation. The P111 is also ideal for using any of our range of Comms or DAQ PC Cards on a desktop. Unlike other PCI adapters for PC Cards, the Elan adapters do not use an extra "ISA paddle board" to support I/O cards and they do not use polling methods in-place of hardware IRQs. That's why our adapters work in Windows 95(osr2+), 98, 98SE, Millennium Edition, NT4, 2000, XP, MacOS9 and Linux. Uses industry standard 1410 controller chip, proven on all classes of processor, chipset and motherboard manufacturer. Yenta compliant, PCI2.2 compliant, PC99 compliant. Supports sleep and suspend modes. Intel 82365 compatible register set.

P311 - 1 x PCMCIA / CardBus - rear - low-profile
P311 - 1 x PCMCIA / CardBus - low-profileThe P311 "low-profile" Adaptor is recommended for Systems Integrators and OEMs only due to the non-standard "volume envelope" that is required around the host's PCI connector. To cater for the latest generation of Low Profile PCs that can only use Low Profile PCI add-in boards, Elan has created the P311. This model, from the P-Series range, features a Cardbus Type II slot and a circuit board that conforms to the MD1 profile specification. It will allow you to use any TypeI or TypeII PCMCIA or Cardbus card. Due to the space restrictions of Low Profile PCs and the relatively large size of PCMCIA cards, the P311 may not be mechanically compatible with every motherboard, although typically at least one PCI connector will have suitable free space around it to use the P311. Please see below for further details.
P311 installed in a PCI slotThis photograph shows an installed P311 drive and illustrates how the PC card slot is mounted on a daughter board which sits between the PCI board and the next adjacent PCI slot. Also available is a dimensions diagram in PDF format (10.8K) which can be read with Adobe Acrobat Reader. Uses industry standard 1410/1420 controller chip, proven on all classes of processor, chipset and motherboard manufacturer. Yenta compliant, PCI2.2 compliant, PC99 compliant. Supports sleep and suspend modes. Intel 82365 compatible register set. If you are interrested in the same card equiped with a CompactFlash slot please take a look at CompactFlash P312 !

PC2PCE - Extender
PC2PCE - PCMCIA ExtenderThe PC2PCE extender board allows PCMCIA or Cardbus cards to be tested and debugged in a PC-Card slot. Typically this extender is for use in a development or production environment. The extender routes all 68 signals via pin-headers for DSO or Logic Analyzer connection. There is a micro-switch to allow CD1# to be momentarily broken, simulating a card ejection / insertion, and a unique activity LED to show when 16-bit bus cycles are reaching the card. The extender also features a power LED to show when the card is live, and uses a full size TypeI, II or III compatible 3.3v / 5v keyed PCMCIA / Cardbus connector with an ejector lever to make card extraction simple. The area under the PCMCIA connector is cut away to allow access to the back of an un-framed card. A four layer PCB with GND flood on all planes ensures excellent signal propagation. For current consumption measurements, a 2-pin header is provided to allow Vcc to be broken and an ammeter inserted. Ceramic bypass capacitors at the PCMCIA connector ensure clean Vcc and Vpp. Ample GND test points are also provided. This product can be used with the CA201 to make PCMCIA to CF extender.
SL232-R - 1 x RS232 - rugged
SL232-R - 1 x RS232 - ruggedThe SL232-R offers a convenient way to add a single RS232 asynchronous serial port to your laptop, PDA, or desktop (using one of Elan's Desktop PCMCIA adapters). The card automatically configures to become another COM port using the built-in O.S. drivers that are tried and tested and are optimized to work in the Windows environment.
Technical Features:
